Dear Parents,
On behalf of the staff at Maples Elementary School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2018-19 school year!
We are eager and excited to begin an amazing year – one filled with rich academic experiences for our students. These educational opportunities will be rigorous, relevant, and help your children build relationships while making real-world connections. In addition, we will be implementing Playworks during recess. Students will learn new social skills and as a result become more compassionate and better problem solvers.
We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
- Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
- Eats a healthy breakfast, snack, and lunch
- Gets 9-10 hours of sleep every night
- Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
- Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
- Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
- Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
- Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and go on to college
Our first day of school for all students will be Monday, August 27th from 8:35-11:45. Tuesday, August 28th will be the first full day of school for all 1st-5th graders. All Young 5’s/Kindergarteners will attend half days (dismissal at 11:45) the first week of school (August 27-30).
The first day of lunch for 1-5 grades will be Tuesday, August 28th while Young 5’s and Kindergarteners will eat lunch at school on their first full day of school Tuesday, September 4th.
PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY AUGUST 31ST AND MONDAY SEPTEMBER 3RD!

Students should be in their class line by 8:30 every morning. All Young 5’s and Kindergarteners will line up in the cafeteria every morning. The bell rings at 8:35 and students will be escorted to their classroom by their teacher. All outside doors are locked at 8:40. If your child arrives to school after 8:40 the only entry way into the building will be through the main entrance, door #1 off Arthur. You will need to walk your child into the office and sign him/her in. You child will receive a tardy pass to give to his/her teacher.
Teachers will walk their students to the dismissal location at 11:45 (half days) and 3:35 (full days).
All students are eligible for free breakfast. However, they must arrive within the allotted time frame.
- Breakfast begins at 8:10 AM and ends at 8:25 for grades 1-5. Kindergarten students are able to eat until 8:30.
- Entry – Door # 5 for all students. Parents are not allowed in the building so please say your Goodbyes outside the fence area.
- Grades 1-5 Exit from the cafeteria through door #5 and walk to their designated line up spot.
- All Y5/K remain in the cafeteria (teachers come to get them at 8:30).
All students are eligible for free lunch. This year students have an additional eight minutes for lunch. Students will play first and then eat. The new lunch schedule is as follows:

Please consider joining our PTA as our students can greatly benefit from your involvement and contributions to the school’s program and its operations. Our first PTA meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 12th at 9:00 in the cafeteria. All future PTA meetings will be held on the first Wednesday of each month at 9:00. We hope to see you then.

في الكافتيريا كل صباح Y5/KDG يجب أن يكون الطلاب في موقع الصف قبل الساعة 8:30 كل صباح.يصطف جميع
سيقرع جرس الدخول إلى المدرسة في تمام الساعة 8:35 صباحا وسيبدأ التعليم في تمام الساعة 8:40. لهذا على الطلاب
الذين يحضرون إلى المدرسة بعد الساعة 8:40 التوجه الى مكتب المدرسة من باب رقم 1 ( من شارع آرثر)ليتم تغيير حضورهم من غائب الى متأخر. عدم الحضور الى المكتب يسبب بعض الارتباك لأن الأهل يتلقون اتصال من المدرسة للاستفسار عن سبب غياب ولدهم وفي الحقيقة يكون الولد في المدرسة ولكن مسجل غائب. الرجاء اصطحاب أولادكم إلى المكتب لتسجيل اسمائهم واعلامنا بحضورهم بعد الساعة ٠8:40

أود أن أدعوكم للانضمام الى جمعية الأهالي في مدرسة مايبلز .حيث يمكن لطلابنا الاستفادة بشكل كبير من مشاركتك ومساهمتك في برنامج المدرسة. يعقد اجتماعه الأول يوم الأربعاء 12 سبتمبر في تمام الساعة 9:00 صباحا في الكافتيريا. ستعقد جميع اجتماعات المستقبلية في أول يوم أربعاء من كل شهر في الساعة 9:00. ونحن نأمل أن نراكم بعد ذلك
