On April 11, 2019 The Maples Arabic drummers were invited to Michigan School Band & Orchestra Music Education Advocacy Day Lansing at the state Capitol. This event featured legislative meetings, presentations, and a lunchtime concert in the Capitol rotunda. The purpose of the day is to advocate for a top-quality music education for all Michigan students, and we are proud of track record of advocacy and legislative work in Lansing and Washington, D.C.
Maples was the only elementary school group of musicians invited to perform.
The drummers are trained under the direction of Elizabeth Meyers.
It was an amazing opportunity, honor and experience for Liz, our drummers and their parents.
A huge thank you for Mrs. Meyers and the Arabic Drummers for an amazing performance at the State Capitol!
The students played beautifully and were well behaved. They represented Maples with dignity and pride!
